Worried about the NSA monitoring you?

If you take certain steps to mask your identity online, such as using the encryption service TOR, or even investigating an alternative to the buggy Windows operating system, you’re all but asking for “deep” monitoring by the NSA.

big_brotherTOR is an encryption network developed by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in the 1990s. The military’s hope was to enable government workers to search the web without exposing their locations and identities. The system today is widely available, runs on open source code and is popular among privacy advocates as a more secure alternative to open Internet surfing, particularly in countries with repressive regimes. It works by encrypting the user’s address and routing the traffic through servers that are located around the world (so-called “onion routing.”) How does the NSA access it? Through a computer system called XKeyscore, one of the various agency surveillance tools that NSA leaker Edward Snowden disclosed last summer.

According to a recent report from the German media outlet Tagesschau, a group of TOR affiliates working with Tagesschau looked into the source code for XKeyscore. They found that nine servers running TOR, including one at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, were under constant NSA surveillance. The code also revealed some of the behaviors that users could undertake to immediately be tagged or “fingerprinted” for so-called deep packet inspection, an investigation into the content of data packages you send across the Internet, such as emails, web searches and browsing history.

Tea-party guru, and FreedomWorks President and CEO Matt Kibbe, reveals how to kick big government to the curb with simple plan for regaining control of our government and our lives. Brought to you by those wonderfully informative people at WND.com with a “Must See” video hosted by Greg Corombos reporting for Radio America.

MI

Original WMD post with Video Here.

Americans are ready to kick a big, intrusive government to the curb, but they’re waiting for a credible alternative to the two-party approach that got us into this mess, according to FreedomWorks President and CEO Matt Kibbe.

Kibbe is author of the new book, “Don’t Hurt People and Don’t Take Their Stuff: A Libertarian Manifesto.” He admits that reversing the tide of big government will be a massive task even if the right people get into office. He is also wading into the divisive conservative debates over America’s role in the world and whether elected conservative leaders ought to be championing traditional family values.

In his book, Kibbe says the fundamental formula of limited government should boil down to six principles:

1) Don’t hurt people: Free people just want to be left alone, not hassled or harmed by someone else with an agenda or designs over their life and property.
2) Don’t take people’s stuff: America’s founders fought to ensure property rights and our individual right to the fruits of our labors.
3) Take responsibility: Liberty takes responsibility. Don’t sit around waiting for someone else to solve your problems.
4) Work for it: For every action there is an equal reaction. Work hard and you’ll be rewarded.
5) Mind your own business: Free people live and let live.
6) Fight the power: Thanks to the Internet and the decentralization of knowledge, there are more opportunities than ever to take a stand against corrupt authority.

Kibbe also prescribes a 12-step solution to restoring liberty to the people, with ideas ranging from the government not spending more than it takes in and scrapping the income tax to personal choice in education and health care and placing much greater limits on the government’s ability to invade citizens’ privacy.

Lying Shithouse Rat!

Things Obama supposedly didn’t know:

  • Didn’t know about the security clusterfuck in Libya.
  • Didn’t know about the IRS scandal.
  • Didn’t know his government spies on journalists.
  • Didn’t know the NSA engages in a domestic spy program aimed at Americans.
  • Didn’t know the NSA tapped Merkel’s Handyüberwachung.
  • Didn’t know the NSA spies on every other leader in the so called free world.
  • Didn’t know about the Obamacare snafu.
  • Didn’t know Americans would lose their existing medical coverage or see their premiums skyrocket under Obozocare.
  • Let’s play a game: Didn’t know _______________.

Three things Obama most definitely knows:

  • This week’s televised sports schedule.
  • Saturday morning’s tee off time.
  • Days to go…

A Federal judge punked one of the five DOJ lawyers who is representing the NSA for alleged illegal spying on U.S. citizens.

Judge Rebukes Obama’s NSA Lawyer
Another setback for Justice’s defense of massive spying program

WASHINGTON — “I just denied your motion to dismiss,” U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon told Department of Justice attorney Marcia Berman.

“Do you understand that?” he asked, speaking slowly and deliberately, apparently straining to keep his patience.

The judge appeared frequently perplexed by Berman’s explanations Monday afternoon in the federal courtroom as to why the government was not prepared to argue its case after filing a motion three weeks ago asking him to halt further proceedings while appeals go forward in the nation’s biggest spy case.

Leon had already ruled in December that the National Security Agency had probably violated Americans’ Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable search and seizure with its PRISM program. (more…)

Within the past few days, Obama has been losing ground with some of his illegal, socialistic, and tyrannical mandates as they relate to mOBAMAd Scare (a.k.a. the Unaffordable Care Act) and illegal snooping by his National Security Agency.

There finally seems to be some momentum building from his opponents who are pushing back against his bullying, illegal manipulations of ObamaCare, and his blatant disregard for the Constitution of our United States of America.

Supreme Court Halts ObamaCare Mandate…

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor ordered a temporary stay late Tuesday on enforcement of ObamaCare’s contraceptive mandate against The Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged, reports the Washington Post. As explained by Politico, the case is complicated by an ObamaCare exemption created by President Obama which permits the Little Sisters to refuse to directly cover health services which violate their religious beliefs. But, the Little Sisters’ lawsuit points out, the exemption still mandates that the coverage be provided indirectly. Justice Sotomayor gave the Obama administration until Friday to respond to her ruling. The Court has already agreed to hear First Amendment challenges to ObamaCare brought by non-religious employers in its next term.

(2) From WND by Larry Klayman, Esq.:

Federal court calls NSA spying on YOU ‘unconstitutional’!

And round one in the BIGGEST court battle in decades goes to … the American people!

I have scored a HUGE victory over Hussein Obama’s spy agency and need your strong financial support to finish the job at the Supreme Court:

You see, my vitally important lawsuits against the NSA spy scheme implemented by the fake president Barack Hussein Obama (AS HE IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN EVEN ELIBIBLE [sic: ELIGIBLE] TO BE PRESIDENT AT [sic: As] REQUIRED BY THE CONSTITUTION) scored a major win just days ago when U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon ruled that the massive data collection by Hussein Obama’s NSA Getapo-like storm troopers “unconstitutional.”

No court has ever ruled for the American people against the NSA before Judge Leon’s injunction against the spy agency, ordering them to stop their spying on your most intimate communications. We owe the judge a great debt of gratitude as he has taken action to protect us all. In so doing, he made reference to our Founding Fathers like James Madison and the principles of which the nation was founded. Obama and his NSA will now appeal this decision all the way to the Supreme Court and with your strong financial support I am confident we will defeat them and preserve Judge Leon’s ruling so it will have full force and effect to protect us all. But a lot of hard work and its attendant expense of winning this battle is ahead of us. The stakes are very high and that’s why I need to the strong financial support of all patriots now. We cannot allow Obama and his NSA to have us live in what is in effect a KGB-Soviet/Chinese style police state.

The private information from cell phone calls, internet and social media usage Obama’s NSA is invading and accessing is being used to target YOU as an “enemy of the state” who must be coerced, blackmailed and enslaved to keep you down in order that Obama can socialize our nation without opposition. What the court ordered stop is this “Orwellian” KGB Soviet/Chinese style police state, where the government can invade your most private communications with impunity and use this information to destroy you and your loved ones. This is a way, as described in George Orwell’s famous book “1984,” to enslave us to a wicked government that wants to control our lives and thinks and acts as if it were our God. BUT THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT OUR GOD, AND WE MUST DEFEAT IT BY PUSHING FORWARD TO TOTALLY END THIS ILLEGAL SPYING BY TAKING OUR GREAT VICTORY ALL THE WAY TO THE SUPREME COURT.

Another sobering and thought-provoking article from our friends at Laissez Faire Today.

Can Snowden Occupy a Vacant Cabin in a Snowstorm?

When it comes to the NSA leaks and Edward Snowden, government has circled the wagons. Whether Democrat or Republican, the folks doing the people’s business have one view and the people see it differently. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was booed and interrupted by liberal attendees at the Netroots Nation conference on Saturday.

Netroots Nation is a convention for progressive political leaders. Pelosi, a darling of those on the left, was the keynote speaker at the event. But her pro-surveillance, anti-Snowden remarks incited the crowd.  “We’re listening to our progressive leaders who are supposed to be on our side of the team saying it’s OK for us to get targeted” for online surveillance, said Jana Thrift of Eugene, Ore. “It’s crazy. I don’t know who Nancy Pelosi really is.”

We know who Nancy Pelosi is. She’s an authoritarian. She isn’t for freedom, or the people, she represents authority. She’s all for the government spying on us and taking lots of our money to do so. Like most in Washington she believes she knows what’s best for us. Americans should be on a “need to know” basis to keep us safe in Pelosi’s world.

Those on the right are just as bad. (more…)

Another great article from that veritable well of political wisdom and righteous seething criticism, The Daily Rant.

Rumor has it that contributing Author Dan Bubalo has a direct line to Vladimir Putin and Oprah. Two soup cans and a string of course, to thwart the NSA… but if the NSA hasn’t got a bead on Dan yet, this should put them over the edge.

This article is a re-posting from Laissez Faire Today, a daily e-letter club site dedicated to social/political awareness in the broadest sense. The root of this site is one concerning financial matters, but they expound on a variety of other concerns as well with informative thought brought to their reading public through a continual series of timely articles, book reviews and discount book offerings. With an incredibly vast array of perspective LF defies categorization other than that which might be considered somewhat anarchistic … but in a respectable and responsible manner.

I offer here one of their latest posts, one that describes a woeful tale of totalitarian government surveillance and civil disobedience brought together with an historical perspective on the manner of the world in which we now live. Prepare to witness how our civil liberties in general and specifically our 4th Amendment rights have been under ongoing assault and rapid diminishment through manipulation and lies since no later than the latter half of the 20th Century. See how Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell may well go down in history as one of the greatest philosophical treatises on liberty in Socratic dialog the world has ever witnessed.

For your reading pleasure, I present:

Thank You, RUSSIA?

Dear Laissez Faire Today Reader,

Baltimore, MD What happens when you spend a day at home searching the Internet for home appliances and maybe some back-to-school supplies? For most people, you get a lazy afternoon. But one couple in Long Island, N.Y., got a visit from their local police department. They had some questions about their peculiar Internet searches.

Better sit down before you read this. And move away any valuables you might throw at a wall in a fit of rage. (more…)

You can run from reality, but it will eventually catch up to you. If you don’t believe me, try out-running your shadow.

James Clapper is the head of an obscenely mismanaged and misguided espionage machine known as the National Security Agency. Its purpose was to spy on our enemies but instead it spies on Americans. But that’s no longer called spying in the Obama administration. Clapper claimed to be “clearly erroneous.” That’s called lying, but not under the Obama administration. There’s a consequence for lying called perjury, but there is not a ramification under the Obama administration. Morsi’s Arab Spring was rejected in Egypt and he was deposed by the military, which is called a coup d’etat [sic: d’état], but that’s no longer called a coup according to the Obama administration.

Smoke and mirrors. Sleight of hand. A façade covering a mask hiding a disguise, and euphemisms substituted for anything remotely resembling candor.

Honesty? So passé……………………………………so jejeune……………………………

"Thank you, Mr. President, for this honor and this opportunity. I'm not sure I have the words to describe how excited I am to return to the Department of Justice, and especially to get to work again with the people of the FBI. They are men and women who have devoted their lives to serving and protecting others, and I simply can't wait to be their colleague again."

“Thank you, Mr. President, for this honor and this opportunity. I’m not sure I have the words to describe how excited I am to return to the Department of Justice, and especially to get to work again with the people of the FBI. They are men and women who have devoted their lives to serving and protecting others, and I simply can’t wait to be their colleague again.”

President Obama recently nominated James Comey as director of the FBI. He said, praising him, “To know Jim Comey is also to know his fierce independence and his deep integrity.  Like Bob, he’s that rarity in Washington sometimes—he doesn’t care about politics, he only cares about getting the job done.  At key moments, when it’s mattered most, he joined Bob in standing up for what he believed was right.  He was prepared to give up a job he loved rather than be part of something he felt was fundamentally wrong.  As Jim has said, ‘We know that the rule of law sets this nation apart and is its foundation.'”

Well that’s awfully damned magnanimous and self-sacrificing of good ol’ Jimmy boy… except he didn’t leave!  He stayed with the Justice Department for another year, even though he was certainly and undoubtedly aware of their continued efforts in the monitoring of the personal records of millions of Americans without the legal authority to do so. And, I might add, in direct contradiction to the Constitutional rights of those being targeted. Apparently the straight-out-of-their-ass legal theories proposed by the NSA’s attorneys was enough to keep our man “Jimmy boy” at his post.  Oh!  But that’s all right. As Jim has said, “We know that the rule of law sets this nation apart and is its foundation.”

Ya think? (more…)
