Evidently some groups are more entitled to the right of national self-determination.

The incessant crybaby tantrums for the “Palestinians” to have this right overshadows the same right being negated or denied for the following:

Jews

Kurds

Catalans

Basques

Tibetans

Assyrians

Chaldeans

This most recent selection is Andrew Scott Cooper’s The Fall of Heaven.

It’s all about the Islamist take down of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in 1979.

indexAn informative read for those not alive at the time and for those who can relive those days through a prism not available then.

The shah’s downfall and replacement with a radical, fundamentalist, Islamist theocracy was the first domino to fall in the ongoing clash of cultures knocking into dominoes around us now.

The three takeaways are in no articular order are;

  1. The Shah, according to Cooper was very reluctant to crack down harshly on the nascent uprising when it could have been nipped in the bud before the Islamists took it over. This may have sugar-coated the Shah’s role as I remember meeting Iranian refugees in the late 70s who fled from Savak, the Shah’s secret police.
  2. The Americas, i.e. the Carter Administration and ambassador Sullivan were inept, incompetent, incapable and ignorant when it came to understanding Persian culture, the events unfolding and what America’s interests actually were.
  3. The duplicity and deception on the part of  Khomeini and his ilk in achieving their goal. The organizational methods, strategies and tactics were similar to what is being used today to foment Islamic supremacy worldwide.

The big lesson here is that our leaders are not immune from stupidity and can be easily outmaneuvered by believing those with a proven track record of untrustworthy behavior.

An IAF fighter jet takes off

The Israel Defense Forces attacked and destroyed an Islamic Jihad terrorist cell that had fired four rockets into northern Israel from Syria.

On Friday, Israel eliminated several terrorists in Syria including Mohsan Issa, a senior Syrian colonel along with his aides.

The IDF reported that the cell was “struck 10 to 15 kilometers from the border, in territory under the complete control of the Syrian army,” and that cell “was directed by Iran.”

Israel’s Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon warned “those seeking to do so will know that the IDF and the security system will pursue them until the end.”

Huckabee: Iran nuclear deal will march Israelis ‘to the door of the oven’

Republican presidential candidate invoked the Holocaust in an interview with Breitbart News

President Barack Obama is marching Israelis to “the door of the oven” by agreeing to the Iran nuclear deal, Mike Huckabee said Sunday.

The Republican presidential candidate invoked the Holocaust in an interview with Breitbart News.

“This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history. It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven,” Huckabee said.

He continued: “This is the most idiotic thing, this Iran deal. It should be rejected by both Democrats and Republicans in Congress and by the American people. I read the whole deal. We gave away the whole store. It’s got to be stopped.”

Asked to elaborate on Huckabee’s “door of the oven” remark, campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart told CNN that “the comment speaks for itself.”

Huckabee’s campaign highlighted the comment later Sunday on Twitter.

Huckabee and other GOP presidential candidates have pledged to undo the deal, which the United States and five other world powers struck with Iran this month after weeks of negotiations in Vienna.

The United States would lift its economic sanctions in exchange for Tehran curbing its large-scale nuclear capabilities and allowing international inspections.

Obama has defended the deal in news conferences, and Secretary of State John Kerry sparred with Senate Republicans over it during a committee hearing. The White House needs 34 out of 100 senators to support the deal to keep its implementation from being blocked.

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz compared Huckabee’s comments to questioning whether Obama is an American.

“This rhetoric, while commonplace in today’s Republican presidential primary, has no place in American politics,” she said in a statement. “Cavalier analogies to the Holocaust are unacceptable. Mike Huckabee must apologize to the Jewish community and to the American people for this grossly irresponsible statement.”

Here is an Arab who actually gets it.
How long before the fatwa?

Israel: Vital to the US and Arabs

by Mudar Zahran

For some time, there have been voices within U.S. intellectual and academic circles that question how vital Israel is to the U.S. Some openly wonder whether Israel has done anything good for the U.S., or if Israel is actually important at all to American national interests. Such voices, while few, still manage to utilize a very effective anti-Israeli propaganda machine, for example the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement, as well as some academic institutions that have chosen to turn themselves into enemies of the Jewish state. Their main argument is: What do we need Israel for?

Of course, those voices get a lot of support from us, the Arabs. We Arabs have been claiming for seven decades now that Israel is the source of all evil. Some of our rulers have been saying this to the Western media for decades. Basically, we claim that if Israel disappears, our lives will become wonderful and iPhones will grow on the trees in our backyards.

Nonetheless, facts on the ground suggest that these claims could not be further from the truth. Let’s see why. (more…)
