Happy Birthday United States.

I just started reading American Spring by Walter Borneman and couldn’t wait to finish and review it.

This is a preview of a unique book about the American Revolution whose narrative actually ends on July 4, 1776.

With all the historic springs, Hungarian, Prague and Arab that have come to naught, here is one that truly represents the concept.

Starting in 1774 the book follows the events and developments that lead to the colonies declaring independence.

Although we have all been spoon fed the story of Lexington and Concord, we learn from this book that the first shots exchanged between British regulars and colonial militia were in December 1774 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire after a warning brought by a horse borne messenger named Paul Revere.

Another myth dispelled by Borneman is that the main fuse igniting the rebellion was not the taxes or the lack of representation, but the British attempt to control the colonists’ ability to possess arms and ammunition.

The more things change , the more they remain the same.

Give America a birthday present this year and read this book.

Hasn’t America given you enough to deserve that?

After, the check is in the mail and I won’t come in your mouth, this has to be the next biggest lie.

From the NY Post:

President Obama and First Lady Michelle say they want their privileged daughters to work minimum-wage jobs because it builds character.

“I think every kid needs to get a taste of what it’s like to do that real hard work . . . That’s what life is,” Michelle Obama said in an interview with Parade magazine published on Friday.

The couple is even searching for tough menial gigs for their daughters, Sasha and Malia, President Obama told the magazine.

“We are looking for opportunities for them to feel as if going to work and getting a paycheck is not always fun, not always stimulating, not always fair,” President Obama said.

Average teens can’t afford to be so choosy.

National employment rates for youth ages 16 to 19 plunged from 52 percent in 1999 to just 32 percent this year, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The president once scooped ice cream at Baskin-Robbins and Michelle worked at a bindery.

Media must emulate founding era in exposing usurpation by leaders

The Declaration of Independence pledges Americans’ “unalienable Rights” through Governments “deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. …

“Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it. …”

More and more of us are determined to alter our government by denying our consent to President Barack Obama’s continuous discarding of our individual constitutional liberties, as I’ve demonstrated in recent columns.

But the most starkly lucid reasons for this looming Second American Revolution have been detailed by Randy E. Barnett, a Georgetown University professor of constitutional law and author of the book “Restoring the Lost Constitution: The Presumption of Liberty” (Princeton University Press, 2005). (more…)
