Where I last left off, Abba Eban was speaking of the “vast opportunities in the Arab world for the Arab refugees to build new lives, but Arab governments have so far debarred refugees from these opportunities.”

Here’s something almost verbatim that I read today in the Los Angeles Times (July 14, 2008) about one of hundreds of similar projects currently being planned in the countries around Israel, this one happens to be in Saudi Arabia:

Along the Saudi Arabian coast where boats carrying pilgrims bound for Mecca sailed for centuries, a thicket of cranes rises over whitewashed mosques along the Red Sea. Steel flashes and blowtorches glow as 20,000 workers build a $10-billion university ordered by a king who hopes Western ingenuity will revive the economy of this ultraconservative Muslim nation.”

This would be yet another perfect instance of a way to attract and integrate thousands more Palestinians into the Saudi economy and culture. But instead of using these perfect opportunities to integrate thousands of Palestinian refugees and many thousands more of their members into Saudi society, Saudi Arabia prefers to import temporary workers from the other side of the globe. Anything to avoid compying with United Nations resolutions that for over 50 years have tried to solve the problems that Saudi Arabia and all the other Arab countries created and have done their best to perpetuate.

But instead of weaning the Palestinians off of free handouts, today they are largely in the form of huge monetary bequests from America, and arms constantly being sent from neighboring Muslim countries, and instead of offering these people new lives elsewhere, the Muslims have fought every which way to maintain Palestinian “refugee” status as if it were something special, something the Muslims must hold onto for dear life.

For what possible reasons would the Palestinians be complicit in such a boondoggle? Might it be they like paying no rent? Could it be they love the hand-outs? Could it be they’re great at not working and living on the dole? Could it possibly be related to the fact that they are nursed on hating Jews and doing everything possible to take Jewish lives and land?

And for what possible reasons would the rest of the Muslim world be complicit in such a boondoggle? Might it be they are prisoners of their own rhetoric? That they are incapable of admitting they made a mistake? That they are incapable of doing the right thing? You tell me, because to me it seems obvious that the Arab and Muslim nations love the notion of maintaining the Palestinian refugees’ “special status,” as a smokescreen for the truth and a hotbed of anger and easily manipulated people trained from the cradle to hate Jews.

Speaking of the Palestinians on their own behalf, and of the rest of the Arabs, with regard to the Arab Refugee problem, Abba Eban said one and all, they have never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity to peacefully resolve the problem.

And why? Because they don’t want the problem to go away. Can’t anyone see that? Over 50 years ago Abba Eban was already convinced of this obvious conclusion.

Looks like Abba Eban knew what he was talking about.

Now, picking up where I left off: (more…)

All refugee problems throughout the world have always been resolved within what many would regard a reasonable amount of time.

This is not the case with the Arab refugees who left Israel so Muslim countries could enter Israel, kill all the Jews, and then the Arabs would return. The Muslims and Arabs openly admitting they were intent on performing genocide, were surprised when the Israelis were not crushed, but rather, against all odds, fought brilliantly and valiantly and as such, emerged as the victors.

Everyday we hear or read something “new” about the situation in the Middle East, and it’s always veiled in a Post-Modern reconstructionist news-speak. Because those commentators, journalists and reporters, when reporting about Middle Eastern issues obviously don’t know their asses from holes in the ground, I decided to transcribe with minimal commentary, some background that I think should be required reading for students churned out by the left-leaning ivory towers at Columbia’s School of Journalism.

In rapid succession I am posting bite-size excerpts of this article: “Arab Refugees–A Record In Obstruction.” July 11, 2008 I posted “Part III: Arab Refugees–A Record In Obstruction.”

Here’s the most recent installment of the must-be-read by all who care to speak or write knowledgably about the Middle East. (more…)

If you ever wondered why the Arabs constantly pull off the most brutal, senseless stunts to get inordinate amounts of press, and then promulgate their message which always amounts to more lies about Israel (which almost noone realizes because the message is their incorrect subversion of the truth), well, you’re not the only one.

They’ll never tell you why they do it. Noone on our side in the media or otherwise has ever bothered to explain the reason. So I’ll tell you.

The reason Muslims and Arabs continually pull off the most insane acts of violence to get press that they then do their best to turn against Israel is because they know, by getting everyone’s attention, that will inevitably eliminate the real story of what’s happened and enable them to change the story, and turn it into something that it’s not.

I know I didn’t say that very well. Let me try again. Muslims do stupid stuff to get in the press so the real story about what they did to Israel and what it led to never gets told. They know, by getting lots and lots of reporters and everyone else involved, when they hurriedly prepare their stories, none will have the time to learn the real reasons behind their most recent bizarre terrorist strike. With reporters who can write or talk or read a teleprompter, but with so few who are well read on much of anything, you can’t expect them to know much more than the most recent press release they just skimmed.

Building on the first two parts previously published here at TMQ2 (The Muslim Question Blog), here is the next part after “Part II: Arab Refugees–A Record In Obstruction” (July 10, 2008).

If you like unbelievably amazing reading, you’ve got to read this! (more…)

Abba Eban (1915-2002) was born in Cape Town, South Africa and brought up in England. Graduating from Cambridge University in oriental languages and classics, and fluent in Arabic, he went on to serve in the British Army in Egypt and Mandate Palestine during World War II.

He participated in the negotiations with the British government and the United Nations concerning the establishment of the State of Israel, and when Israel became independent in 1948, Abba Eban was appointed Israel’s first Ambassador at the UN.

From 1950 until 1959 Eban was Israel’s ambassador in Washington, D.C. and chief delegate to the UN. He was president of the Weizmann Institute from 1959 to 1966. In 1959 he was also elected to the Knesset and under David Ben-Gurion her served as Minister of Education and Culture from 1960 to 1963. From 1963 to 1966 he was deputy to Prime Minister Levi Eshkol.

He served as Israel’s Foreign Minister from February 1966 to 1974. During and after the Six-Day War of June 1967, he led Israel’s diplomatic struggle in the UN. Following the Yom Kippur War of October 1973, Abba Eban helped bring about a disengagement of Egyptian and Israel forces in Sinai.

Eban continued to serve in succeeding Knessets. Eban was fluent in ten languages and throughout his career he published important works based on his vast knowledge and personal experience.

In 2001, Abba Eban was awarded the Israel Prize for his lifetime achievement. He held twenty honorary doctorates and was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He died in 2002 when he was 87 years old.

Now, continuing where I left off in a previous post, entitled Part I: Arab Refugees-A Record In Obstruction, when I was discussing what the United Nations was going to do about “reintegrating the Arab refugees into the economic life of the Near East,” (July 10, 2008), here’s Part II from what Abba Eban wrote in 1957— (more…)
