Don’t Forget 1984
John Zaccaro is the husband of the United States Democratic Party 1984 Vice Presidential nominee, Rep Geraldine Anne Ferraro (D-NY). He makes a ton of money in real estate. But it was revealed when his wife was running for veep that he didn’t pay his taxes. As a result, he became the center of controversy. People legitimately felt the revelation reflected poorly on the Democratic Party’s ability to properly vet people, it reflected poorly on Mondale’s judgment, it reflected poorly on Ferraro who tried to make America believe she had no idea what was going on in her family with regard to taxes. Most of us, especially people in the U.S. Congress, know there’s a little thing we have to take care of, and it’s called taxes. As a result, we didn’t believe her. Plus, we didn’t like her. And on top of that, we didn’t like Mondale either. And we didn’t like Jimmy Carter. But we did like Ronald Reagan.
