Not too long ago, I penned a short piece entitled “Hamas ‘Offers’ to Return Gilad Schalit.” In the comments section underneath, a fellow named Dave said something that reminded me of the time when Todd Beamer, one of the passengers on Flight 93, said “Let’s roll” before he and his fellow travellers bravely foiled the hijackers plans that clear September day and denied the hijackers the ability to turn the jet they were on into a missile aimed for the heart of our Democracy.
The term, “Let’s roll” is similar to the term, it’s time to “rock and roll.” Both are American civilian terms. Lance, the decorated American veteran who founded and serves as an informal editor-in-chief of the blog, The Muslim Question 2 (TMQ2), tells me the actual phrase he used before going into battle was “lock and load”. He says, “Though all these phrases are effective, the latter leads to a positive body count,” and he assures me war is all about body count (that and winning the hearts and minds of the war-zone locals, which doesn’t ever seem to work well in war).
