Remember, the United States was part of an international chorus of countries that ruled the past Belarus presidential election was a fraud.
The most important nations to Belarus are Venezuela and Russia. Both want incumbent Alexander Lukashenko in office.
If the opposition ever succeeds in forcing him out of office, Russia may retaliate as it did with its gas pipeline shenanigans in the Ukraine.
