If any of the following is true (and I’m sure it’s just a load of buffalo chips), the irony would be almost unbelievable.
Unfortunately, the timing of this news release is very suspect—just 100-days out from the November elections. The biggest irony would lie within a character flaw both men seem to share. Both have reneged on agreements and/or promises.
John Punch did not start out a slave. He was an *indentured servant who entered into an agreement just like many white men did at the time.
The characteristics shared by two historically significant Africans in the history of our country is that they both lack(ed) any semblance of moral turpitude or honor. Their word is/was definitely not their bond.

Ancestry Website: Obama’s Mother Descended From First US Slave
CHICAGO — A family history website claims it has linked President Barack Obama [a.k.a. Barry Soetoro] to the first documented African slave in the American colonies.
Research by Ancestry.com from early Virginia records and DNA analysis shows Obama is the 11th great-grandson of John Punch, an indentured servant in Colonial Virginia who became enslaved for life after trying to escape in 1640, according to the website. [Sounds just like something Obama would do—reneging on an agreement]
The findings were released about 100 days out from the presidential election. Obama’s campaign headquarters are based in Chicago.
“Remarkably, the connection was made through President Obama’s Caucasian mother’s side of the family,” the site said in a statement.

Ancestry.com genealogists researched Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, and discovered her land-owner ancestors descended from Punch. According to the site, Punch had children with a white woman who passed her free status to her children, who went on to become successful land owners in Colonial Virginia.
“Two of the most historically significant African Americans in the history of our country are amazingly directly related,” said Ancestry.com genealogist Joseph Shumway in a statement. “John Punch was more than likely the genesis of legalized slavery in America. But after centuries of suffering, the Civil War, and decades of civil rights efforts, his 11th great-grandson became the leader of the free world and the ultimate realization of the American

Ancestry.com called on a past Board for Certification of Genealogists president to perform a third-party review of the research.
“A careful consideration of the evidence convinces me that the Y-DNA evidence of African origin is indisputable,” said Elizabeth Shown Mills in a statement, “and the surviving paper trail points solely to John Punch as the logical candidate.”

*Indentured servitude refers to the historical practice of contracting to work for a fixed period of time, typically three to seven years, in exchange for transportation, food, clothing, lodging and other necessities during the term of indenture. Many times these contracted servants would also receive land upon successful completion of the contract. This practice was very common during the early days of the the American colonies and was an important element which helped to shape and mold this country.

I’m no genealogist or geneticist but this sounds like total bullshit.
The Y-DNA is passed from the father except in females who have no Y chromosome.
So of course Obama’s Y -DNA is African.
Maternal ancestry is traced via mitochondrial DNA which comes from the cytoplasm of the mother’s egg that what fertilized that ultimately produces the baby.
If they mean his mitochondrial DNA is from Haplogroup-Y then he is descendant from Ainus or some other indigenous peoples of the Sakhalin islands, Korea or Kamchatka.
Nowhere near Africa last I heard.
The irony is that if he was descended from African slaves on his mother’s side there was a good chance that some Muslim African on his father’s side was the one who would have sold John Punch to the Europeans.
But the most astounding and fantastic thing is that we are expected to believe that in spite of Obama not producing a credible birth certificate, college transcripts, passport, or social security number coded to 1961 Hawaii, he has provided a sample that allowed some one the opportunity to sequence his DNA.
