My wife, who believes life is meant to be experienced in a state of blissful ignorance, asked me yesterday,
“Why do Jews like Obama so much? He doesn’t seem to like Israel or Jews at all.”
This was prompted by gushing comments over Obama’s photo op with Bibi that were made by her mother, who believes life is meant to be experienced in total oblivion.
I gave my wife the short story and told her that some Jews have their heads up their asses, and think everyone should enjoy the smell as much as they do. They are too blinded being liberals to see the writing on the wall.
But you dear reader are more sophisticated and deserve the long form.
The majority of Jews in the USA are descended from those who arrived here between 1880 and 1920. These were impoverished and brutalized subjects of the Czar.
They had two avenues to salvation besides coming to America; revolution or Zionism. The Zoinists went to then Palestine and America got the leftists.
Forever indebted to FDR for throwing them a buck and resentful of the Republicans who wouldn’t let them join country clubs many American Jews began to toe the liberal party line as visceral response and somehow incorporated it into their DNA.
Many liberal Jews hold the postion that their progressivism and liberalism is in actuality Judaism. This belief system is a way to be Jewish without having to be Jewish. Like wearing a red bracelet makes one an expert on Kabbalah without ever studying Torah.
In many cases it has led them to virtually abandon traditional Judaism in favor of outside elements that are none the less Judeo-destructive. They are very quick to quote Hillel’s saying, “If i am only for myself, what am I?” but choose to ignore that he also said,”If I am not for myself who will be for me?”
The world has shown repeatedly that for Jews the answer is no one, with the exception of present day evangelical Christians.
Liberal Jews along with their fellow non-Jewish ideologues display unbridled hypocrisy. They preach love and tolerance but maintain intolerance and hatred for any one who doesn’t agree with them. The scenarios are particularly venal when it comes to Jewish subject matter. Liberal Jews who would welcome a mosque in their neighborhoods and pat themselves on the back for promoting diversity, fight tooth and nail to prevent a synagogue from being erected on the same spot.
Jews who view American Indians through the patronizing prism of “the noble savage” and are inspired when an Indian offers praise to his Great Spirit before eating a buffalo, are embarassed by another Jew who makes a blessing before eating something.
Liberalism in a Judaic cloak is a pick and choose Judaism that fills in the blanks with what substantiates a certain political bend. Eventually it is Judaism in name only, and liberal Jews will find after filling all the blanks, thay have written their own epitaph.
I have a Jewish friend in NYC. My views on Moooslims are a sticking point in our friendship. I had asked her to go to the 9/11 place of warship protest for me. She says I’m negative and racist? I think she’s delusional:)
We met some six years ago through our love for a singer who recently boycotted Israel after initially contractually committing to two shows there. I’m still pissed about his betrayal. I will boycott him now, … though my heart is breaking. But if he would boycott Israel, then I will boycott him.
Needless to say, I will be first in line for Elton John’s soon-to-be-released new album. I loved what he told the audience in Tel Aviv: “Nothing could have kept me from coming!”
Karen and I mostly saw each other when I would travel to NYC to see the singer. … Unless this singer redeems himself in some way, I probably won’t be seeing Karen or NYC again. What ya gonna do? If you don’t have convictions, what do you have?
And btw Lawrence, I’m not an evangelical Christian. In fact, though raised Catholic, the Christian branch of Judaism:), I’m not very religious at all. But for me, Israel and the Jews are the cornerstone of Western Civilization. So know that there are many Americans like me who support Israel as a matter of heritage and unfaltering fealty. I also just happen to admire Jews, … greatly.
Also, you know that recent polls are showing that the majority of American Jews who voted for BO, would not do so again! There is hope!
