Hurray! or Hurrah! for you, Lance (although I abhor this exclamation as it supposedly derives from "Hierusalem perdita est" or some such Latin crap motto, referring to the many losses of the Israeli capital to successive invaders)

what was I saying? Oh yes, Hurray for you for bearding the fkd-up system of "military justice" pervading our nation's armed forces.

I posted a link to this Joan Swirsky article at "Islamic Danger Redux" (http://inslamic-danger-redux.blogspot.com/2009/06/fighting-wars-to-lose.html).

Military justice is a joke.

I know how he feels. Many years ago I got railroaded by the army too, although not nearly as badly. They do it all the time. The defense (Jag) attorneys are mostly brand new lawyers (Second Lieutenants) in the army while the prosecutors are older, seasoned and higher ranking officers. They often share the same offices! Mine sucked! She had been in the army only a few months and I couldn't afford private council.

I would never pick a jury for a Court Martial. Go with the judge. It worked out well for me. Most army juries are filled with dolts chosen from opposing units who dislike soldiers from the defendant's unit. Don't ask me how, but they do it all the time.

Army units all hate each other. It's not even friendly competition. It's hatred instilled into them by their senior NCOs.

Mine was also a self-defense case where I fended off my attacker who stuck a loaded pistol to my head, but I sent him off to the Med Station bleeding profusely from the head and missing most of his left ear. What the hell, I was a well-trained combat Arms soldier. I returned to duty at a new unit after a short Stockade tour -- no reduction in rank (except while in the fenced in joke of a jail) and no boot out. Got an honorable Discharge later on.

I now love getting my DAV pension every month for as long as I live. They tried to give me the green weenie once. I'm giving it right back to them for life. And if I die, my wife inherits half my pension for her life plus my GI Life Insurance.

I get my payback every month as long as I live.

The General better let him go or his career will be ruined. Generals hate civilians butting in, but they hate negative press even more. It's all political at Colonel and above anyway.
