I live in a part of the country where, when the conversation turns to the elections, many people assume that you are voting for Obama.
I have gotten to the point that rather than try to defend my reasons for not voting for him, or subject myself to their diatribes on how there must be something wrong with me, and given the fact that no rational, cogent or reasonable argument will convince them otherwise, I just go along and act like I will vote for him also.
I’m tempted to lie and say out right I won’t vote for him because he’s black. No matter what my reasons may be, people here assume that is the root cause for people not voting for Obama.
Many people, black and white are inspired by the fact that Obama’s black and are motivated to vote for him for that reason.
Is it any less racist to vote for him because he’s black as it is to not vote for him because he’s black?
I deplore both arguments.
Or is his skin color being used as an tool of a mechanism that wishes to be immune from direct criticism?
In certain totalitarian states, such as those controlled by Nazis,Communists, or Baathists loyalty to the state takes a back seat to the party. Germany didn’t have enough trains to get the troops to the front in defense of the Fatherland because they were needed to transport Jews to death camps. Party ideology came before the good of the country.
When a Republican administration appoints a Black secretary of state, or supreme court judge, or a Latino attorney general, what is the reaction of liberals?
Rather than commend the actions for fostering an environment of diversity or equality, they were condemned because the appointees didn’t conform to the liberals’ political agenda.
When a liberal takes exception to the politics of a minority member it’s always claimed to be about the politics, but conservatives are accused of racism if they find the politics objectionable.
If Obama doesn’t get in, my prediction is that the next black candidate to be elected president will be a Republican.
It will be based on merit and not skin color because the Republicans don’t have an agenda that uses racial divisiveness to promote their platform.
The candidate will be excoriated by the left for being a self-hating sellout.
So much for the American way.

Bravo! I totally agree. Let’s get Michael Steele back into office to prepare him for a Palin/Steele ticket in 2012, or how about a Palin/Jindal ticket. Just you imagine the viciousness from the Left.
